FOUR INGREDIENT LACTATION SMOOTHIE FOR WEIGHT LOSS AND MILK SUPPLY

Lactation smoothies are a quick and delicious way to increase you milk supply. What’s better than a tasty drink that includes all the best supplements for increasing break milk… all in one place! Ever since I had Elliott and now have to chase two kids around, I love anything that’s multipurpose.  If something helps me solve more than one problem at once, I’m all for it. This lactation smoothie does just that!  It helps increase milk supply, promotes weight loss, and is an easy snack or meal to take on the go.  This smoothie is packed with protein and superfoods so it fills me up and helps me curb those sugar cravings I always seem to get while breastfeeding.

HOW WILL IT INCREASE YOUR MILK SUPPLY
The key to this four-ingredient lactation smoothie is Milk Dust.  Milk Dust is the first and only protein powder that was created specifically for breastfeeding moms.  It’s packed with the best supplements for increasing milk supply like fenugreek, milk thistle, fennel seed, Brewer’s yeast, and raspberry leaf.  It helps combat sugar cravings and promotes weight loss with its unique blend of superfoods.  It helps make up for common minerals and nutrients that most breastfeeding moms are lacking.  I found Milk Dust through it’s creator, Katie Pickett, after I started her postpartum fitness program and loved it.  (It’s called the Postpartum Cure if you want to check it out).  She’s a pre and postnatal exercise specialist and a mom of three who has helped thousands of women lose weight while breastfeeding.

DO LACTATION SMOOTHIES ACTUALLY WORK?
In my opinion, lactation smoothies are a great way to help increase your milk supply, keep you hydrated, and fill your body with milk boosting supplements that you might not otherwise be getting. While lactation smoothies are a great tool for breastfeeding moms, you shouldn’t solely rely on them to increase your milk supply overnight. The best way to increase you milk supply is to nurse and pump regularly. The more milk you remove from your breast, the more milk your breasts will make!

HELPFUL HINTS FOR MAKING YOUR LACTATION SMOOTHIE
  • I love my Oster My Blend because it makes individual smoothies right in a travel bottle so there’s little to no clean up (other than throwing it in the dishwasher when you’re done).  It also takes up way less space on my counter top than a traditional blender.  You can throw all the ingredients (besides the ice and the frozen banana) in the blender the night before so it’s ready to make in seconds in the morning.  It’s also super affordable!
  • Anytime I have bananas that are too ripe, I throw them in the freezer for smoothies.  When I’m ready to use them, I just cut off the peel and throw it in the blender.  However, you can always buy frozen chopped bananas at the grocery.
  • Milk Dust is amazing and it’s extremely versatile.  There are so many different recipes you can try using this as your base.  Katie even has a free recipe book you can get here!
HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU DRINK A LACTATION SMOOTHIE?
I drink this four ingredient lactation smoothie about 4-5 times a week, but you’re more than welcome to enjoy it everyday! If you’re really working on increasing your breast milk supply, cutting down on sugar cravings, and losing weight while breastfeeding, I would add this to you daily diet.
